Four poster beds, chandeliers, grand dining room, enormous kitchen, snooker room - a stay at Bruisyard Hall is a truly luxurious experience
The oldest parts of Bruisyard Hall date back over 700 years, incorporating the fourteenth-century remains of a nunnery. The rest of this beautiful house is mid 16th century, with later alterations. It is constructed of warm brick, flint and stone with interesting plasterwork and mullioned windows. It’s a broad building with an impressive fascia onto a gravelled sweep of drive, and three storeys including the converted attics. Above the front door is the family crest and motto; above that a large painted sundial which has become Bruisyard Country Estate’s brand identity.
It’s privately-owned by Robert and Teresa Rous (though they live elsewhere), and full of texture, interest and warmth, somewhere to properly relax like any good family home. The perfect place, in fact, for relaxing over a prolonged breakfast in the Hall’s large domestic kitchen, enjoying a Sunday barbecue with garden games, playing hide-and-seek in the Hall’s long corridors, or getting immersed in the flurry and excitement of preparations for and celebrations of a wedding.
The recently renovated Byre, a previous farm outbuilding, adds a further three luxurious ensuite bedrooms to the Estate, as well as a private courtyard with an all weather indoor social area. This provides the ideal setting to host welcome drinks for guests or a range of different informal dining provided by Bruisyard in house chefs, from grazing brunches to fine dining.
The perfect home from home, for any occasion.
